The open channel is written as FLAC, which is lossless: a FLAC file is kept exactly as it is, and anything else your browser can play becomes 16-bit FLAC at 44.1 kHz. The sealed channel is kept as you gave it if it is FLAC, MP3, Ogg Opus or WAV, and written as FLAC otherwise.

The key is made fresh for this record, and the sealed channel is bound to the open track: lifted onto any other, it will not open. Anyone who inspects the file can see that a sealed channel is there. What the key locks is the hearing.
